Marking the next gathering in our Speaker Series, Bill Shutkin returns to Boulder this fall.

Shutkin, now the President and CEO and Richard M. Gray Fellow in Sustainability Practice at the Presidio Graduate School (PGS), has the future of sustainable business leadership in his hands.  As one of the pioneers in sustainable business education, Presidio has come to be synonymous with the notion of a “green MBA.”

Shutkin has an extraordinary background, and is one of the prototypical sustainable business leaders, having been among the first fellows graduated by the social entrepreneur incubator Echoing Green, decades ago.   Prior to joining PGS, Shutkin was a catalyst for redefining sustainable graduate education in Colorado, first at the University of Colorado, and then at the University of Denver, before the lure of this unique leadership opportunity moved him to the former military campus on the western edge of San Francisco.  Prior to his time in Boulder, Shutkin taught at MIT and Boston College, ran BALLE and the Orton Family Foundation, and regularly wrote, consulted and advised on a broad variety of social policy issues, from law and governance to new product strategy and organizational turn-arounds.

Most recently, Shutkin interviewed Kimbal Musk, our keynote presenter at the Impact Investing Collaboratory at the LOHAS Forum in June. Like our talks with Jed Emerson and Andrew Kassoy before him, this gathering promises to include some of Boulder’s leaders in sustainable business, and an intimate, thoughtful discussion with one of the top minds leading the evolution of our fields.
